Fire ventilation systems

from concept to comissioning

Our offer

We provide support to fire ventilation system designers, architects, fire experts, investors, and general contractors in the field of fire ventilation system solutions for buildings at every stage of project implementation, construction, commissioning, reconstruction, and use.

Concept design

We prepare concept designs for gravity and mechanical fire ventilation systems. We also develop pressure differential systems with full calculations. In addition, we select optimal technical solutions tailored to the individual conditions of the building. As a result, each concept includes complete documentation ready for detailed design.

Design

We develop technical designs for gravity and mechanical fire ventilation systems. We also design jet fan ventilation systems, which are particularly effective in underground car parks. In addition, we develop pressure differential systems for evacuation routes, applying proven and industry-recognised technical solutions.

Consultations

We provide consultancy services for fire ventilation systems at every stage of a project. We also advise on CFD numerical analyses and evacuation conditions in fire emergency situations. In addition, we review existing design solutions for compliance with applicable standards. Our clients thus receive comprehensive expert support in the field of fire safety engineering.

CFD analysis

We carry out CFD numerical analyses to assess the effectiveness of fire ventilation systems. This method allows the spread of smoke and heat within a building to be predicted before construction begins. We also perform wind load analyses on buildings and structures within the field of wind engineering. Technical solutions are thus verified at the design stage, eliminating the risk of costly modifications during construction..

Evacuation modelling

We determine evacuation times for building occupants using computer simulations. We also take into account the actual geometry of the building, the location of emergency exits and the behaviour of people in emergency situations. In addition, we analyse the impact of fire ventilation systems on evacuation conditions. This allows a comprehensive assessment of evacuation safety to be carried out before the building is handed over for use.

Tunnels

We provide full design services for road and railway tunnel ventilation systems. We also develop system operating scenarios covering various emergency situations. In addition, we verify the effectiveness of adopted solutions using CFD numerical simulations. Every project therefore meets applicable standards and technical requirements.

Hot smoke tests

We carry out acceptance and inspection tests of fire ventilation systems using warm, non-staining and non-toxic smoke. We also verify the effectiveness of the system under real operating conditions. In addition, we document the test results in the form of an acceptance report and video material. The investor is thus assured that the installed system operates in accordance with the design and applicable regulations.

Fire ventilation measurements

We carry out measurements of fire ventilation systems and pressure differential systems in evacuation route areas. We also verify the technical parameters of installed equipment in accordance with design requirements. In addition, we assess the effectiveness of the system under real conditions. Full control over the correct operation of the system after installation is thus ensured.

Technical opinions

We prepare technical opinions on adopted design solutions for fire ventilation systems in buildings.
We also assess the compliance of proposed solutions with applicable regulations and technical standards. In addition, we identify any irregularities and recommend optimal alternative solutions. The designer or investor thus gains an independent and reliable expert assessment at every stage of the investment.

Horizontal SHEVs of car parks

We design and carry out numerical analyses of jet fan ventilation systems in underground car parks. We also verify the effectiveness of the system through CFD simulations that take into account the actual geometry of the building. In addition, we select the optimal arrangement of ventilation equipment to ensure effective smoke extraction. The designer is thus assured that the adopted solution meets fire safety regulation requirements.

Protection of escape routes

We prepare concept designs and numerical analyses of fire ventilation systems for vertical and horizontal evacuation routes. We also verify the effectiveness of adopted solutions for pressure differential systems and staircase smoke extraction. In addition, we take into account the requirements of building regulations and the individual conditions of the building. Every study thus provides a reliable basis for informed design decisions.

Numerical aerodynamics wind tunnel

We carry out numerical analyses to determine wind loads on buildings and people, as well as aerodynamic calculations. We also assess pedestrian wind comfort in public spaces in the vicinity of high-rise buildings. In addition, we perform calculations for structures with complex geometry as an alternative to costly physical wind tunnel testing. The designer thus receives reliable wind load data essential for the correct design of the structure.

About us

ARDOR is a Polish family business founded in 2002 by Ewa Sztarbała. We specialise in fire ventilation systems — from concept, through design and CFD simulations, to acceptance testing.
Over more than 20 years we have completed projects for office buildings, shopping centres, industrial and warehouse facilities, underground car parks, and road and railway tunnels — in Poland and abroad. We have also developed our expertise through collaboration with renowned academic institutions: the University of Greenwich, the University of Leeds and the University of Edinburgh.

Specialist in fire ventilation and CFD simulations

As one of the few organisations in Poland, we participate in the work of CEN TC191/SC1 — the technical committee responsible for European standards for smoke and heat control systems — actively contributing to the development of European design standards. Since 2019 we have also been a member of PKN Technical Committee No. 180 for fire safety of buildings and Technical Subcommittee KT 180/PK1 for smoke and heat control systems.
We operate as an independent company. We are members of the Association of Fire Engineers and Technicians (SITP) and the Polish Wind Engineering Association (PSIW).
